UCLA Health Clinical Laboratory Scientist, Per Diem in Los Angeles, California
Description
As a Clinical Laboratory Scientist Per Diem, you will provide coverage on the night shift, primarily between 11:00pm to 7:30am, for the Emergency Department, Anesthesiology and Core Laboratory. Primary duties include: specimen processing; method development, modification and parallel testing; testing in chemistry, hematology, coagulation, immunoassay, and blood gases; preparation of abstracts/manuscripts; maintaining and repairing laboratory instruments; performing quality control and calibration; sample processing; reagent preparation; and data entry.
Salary Range: $68.87 - $68.87/hour
May convert to career.
Qualifications
Current and valid California Clinical Laboratory Scientist License
Bachelor's degree
Must be able to work weekends and holidays
Recent demonstrated technical competence in high volume chemistry/hematology required
Must have working knowledge of lab safety, basic lab skills (pipetting, dilutions, specimen integrity, etc) and test methodologies used in chemistry, hematology, urinalysis, infectious disease testing
Skill in practical application of fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions used in making reagents and in performing calculations
Able to perform repetitive tasks (i.e. pipetting, computer data entry)
Two years of recent experience performing testing in a high volume laboratory, preferred
