UCLA Health Graduate Administrative Intern - Faculty Practice Group in Los Angeles, California

Description

The UCLA Health Faculty Practice Group (FPG) has implemented

a UCLA Health Social Drivers of Health Program (UCLA Health SDOH Program) in

accordance with the enterprise's Population Health Strategy that encompasses a

collection of initiatives that enhance the care delivery model and complements

other efforts aimed at addressing the wider social and environmental factors

affecting patients' health. The program focuses on the implementation and

sustainability of the SDOH framework that provides a systematic way to

understand and address the social needs that influence health outcomes and

guides the development of strategies, interventions, and policies to improve

health equity. Altogether, the program initiatives have the goal to improve the

health of our patient populations, continue our leadership in the market, increasing

the value of our services, and support our communities and community-based

organizations (CBOs).

Under the general supervision of the Faculty Practice Group

Director of Business Operations, the incumbent is responsible for performance

improvement project management, complex analyses, and development of

organizational procedures and practices on a department-wide basis as

needed. The incumbent assures that assigned tasks are completed in a timely

and accurate manner, assists with research, and provides administrative support

to the UCLA Health Faculty Practice Group as requested. Attendance of various

Departmental meetings is expected to facilitate learning and the Administrative

Intern's overall experience.

The incumbent will participate in a variety of professional

and learning experiences including but not limited to:

  • Projects scoped and identified by respective department (serving in a variety of roles)

  • Team-based projects

  • Experiential learning, shadowing, and tours.

Qualifications

If you are enrolled in a Master's

degree program in health care administration, business administration, nursing, public health, health informatics, or a related field with a projected graduation in or after September 2024, you are eligible to apply to become a UCLA Health Administrative Intern.

  1. Excellent

typing and computer skills and knowledge of a variety of software programs,

including Microsoft Office, databases such as Access, on-line processing and

Web page updating.

  1. Writing

and editing skills to prepare grammatically routine business correspondence

such as informal letters, memoranda, and notification letters.

  1. Skill

establishing priorities to complete work in a timely manner despite changes in

workload or assignment, pressure of deadlines, or competing requirements.

  1. Ability

to speak on a one-to-one and group basis using appropriate vocabulary and

grammar to transmit and obtain information in both formal and informal setting,

  1. Skill

in working independently and following through on assignments with minimal or

no supervision.

  1. Ability

to recognize and deal appropriately with sensitive and confidential issues.

  1. Skill

in analyzing information and making recommendations.

  1. Demonstrate strong interpersonal and

organizational skills to interact courteously and effectively with physicians,

university officials, patients, and staff members.
