UCLA Health Laboratory Assistant I - Neurology in Los Angeles, California

Description

The Laboratory Assistant will help assess gene therapy and gene editing platforms that are being developed for treating muscular dystrophy. Additionally, you will assist in scoring mouse tissue sections by microscopy. You will also help in genotyping various mouse models of muscular dystrophy.

Please note that this is a full-time 12-month limited position

and may convert to career.

Salary Range: $19.32 - $22.37

Qualifications

Required:

  • Knowledge of standard laboratory equipment and supplies.

  • Good communication skills and ability to work well with multiple individuals.

  • Ability to maintain an organized working area.

  • Ability to keep accurate and organized lab records.

  • Ability to work on several projects simultaneously and to switch focus as needed.

  • Knowledge of chemistry to prepare common lab solutions.

  • Knowledge of basic molecular biology techniques.

  • Excellent attention to detail.

  • Ability to learn new laboratory techniques and new lab equipment, as needed.

  • General knowledge of University procedures.

Preferred:

  • Knowledge of laboratory safety procedures for handling chemical and biohazardous waste.

  • B.S. Biology, Microbiology, Genetics, or related field.
